Kearney approves 12-year tax abatement for $512,000 home at 211 E. Washington

Carolyn Yatsook, the city's Economic Development Director, told the Board that Dustin and Lori Hampton plan to build a new single-family home at 211 E. Washington with a capital investment of $512,000 and that the project qualifies as a Level B market-stimulating investment under the K-353 Redevelopment Corporation Redevelopment Plan.
Yatsook said the project was reviewed and recommended by the K-353 board and that the abatement agreement presented provides for a 12-year abatement term. The Board approved Bill No. 14-2026 on first and second reading and adopted it as Ordinance No. 1675-2026.
Alderperson Lehman moved to approve the consent agenda earlier in the meeting; the separate motions to approve Bill No. 14-2026 were made as recorded on the first and second readings. On the final roll call for the ordinance the vote was recorded in favor by Alderpersons Holt, King and Lehman, carrying the measure 3-0.
The ordinance authorizes the abatement agreement as described in the ordinance text; the K-353 recommendation and the applicants' presence on the agenda were noted during the presentation. No public comments were offered at the K-353 public hearing earlier in the meeting.
