Helix School District financial update: November receipts, audit wrapping up; Board approves financial report

The Helix School Board received a financial update Dec. 10 and approved the district’s monthly financial report.
Kara Taylor of Intermountain ESD reported by phone that the district had received a Basic School Support payment of $279,941, $16,303 in interest income, $737,723 in current-year property-tax receipts and $3,042 in prior-year property taxes for November. The Board received a summary of larger expenditures and a check register listing monthly disbursements totaling $124,788. Taylor said the June 30 audit field work was wrapping up and that final schedules and reports will be presented to the Board early next year.
Superintendent Brad Bixler also flagged state-level budget uncertainty: he said Oregon had circulated early guidance from the governor and ODE about possible education funding reductions depending on legislative action; staff told the Board they are monitoring the State School Fund forecast. The superintendent noted a roughly $3,000 reduction in Measure 99 funds and said the district would cover the Outdoor School shortfall.
The Board approved the financial report (motion recorded as moved by Ryan Raymond, seconded by Friday Bracher) and received the audit update; staff will present final audit schedules at a subsequent meeting.
