Helix Board swears in new member, appoints three Charter Council members after interviews

Board Chair Larry Parker swore in newly elected board member Bobby Corey at the start of the meeting so Corey could participate in the evening’s Charter Council interviews.
The board convened a work session to review interview questions and decided to use questions 1, 4 and 5 for all candidates. Interviews began at 5:20 p.m. and included Miranda Morris, Mary Len Rees, Jennifer Weidert, Chelsea Maranville (via Google Meets), Ryan Heath, Bob Park, Shannon Peters and Polly Hawkins.
After completing interviews, the board agreed to appoint Shannon Peters, Ryan Heath and Mary Len Rees to serve on the Helix Charter Council; Friday Bracher will serve as the board’s non-voting representative. The appointments were put forward as board recommendations and recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board indicated the Charter Council will include new licensed staff and a student representative and will likely meet first in September. Friday Bracher was thanked for agreeing to serve as the non-voting board representative.
The swearing-in of Bobby Corey and the Charter Council appointments were recorded in the minutes; vote tallies for the appointments were recorded as carried with members present voting yea and one member absent.
