At its Aug. 4, 1958 meeting the Town Council of Culbertson set the property tax levies for the 1958-59 fiscal year, recording the action in its minutes.
The levies were set as follows: Park 1 mill; Library 1 mill; Fire Department 1 mill; G.O. Sewer 3.5 mills; General Fund 15 mills; Street 3 mills; Sewer Improvement 10 mills; and Special Improvement District (revolving) fund 0.5 mill, for a total levy of 35 mills. The council carried the motion after due consideration of the town's needs for 1958-59.
The clerk was instructed to send letters to all taxpayers affected by the special improvement district notifying them of the amounts they owe and to submit his bill for the extra work and expenses involved in handling the special-district notices. Other business at the meeting included authorization to purchase liability insurance for the police car and discussion of lagoon seeding and street grading.
