Southern Valley Fire & Rescue reports acquisition for future station, seeks ambulance agreement help

Chief Mahoney of Southern Valley Fire & Rescue updated the council on department activity, reporting that Oxbow accounted for 9% of SVFR district service calls in 2025, with November the busiest month. Mahoney said SVFR acquired the old Hickson church property for a potential future fire station; with that acquisition SVFR expects to be able to provide advanced-level care from the new site.
Chief Mahoney asked the council for assistance in securing an agreement with Kindred Ambulance so the community can access ambulance services more reliably. He also outlined a plan to survey residents about service preferences and station location. The minutes note that the current station is large enough to store an ambulance when trucks are not in service.
