At its July 14 work session the Franklin Township Council recorded multiple formal actions and roll-call votes.
Adopted on final reading (unanimous roll-call): - Ordinance 45-09-26 — Amendments to the municipal land-development code to implement recommendations from the 2026 master-plan reexamination (adopted after a noticed public hearing). - Ordinance 45-10-26 — Updates to planning and zoning fees and escrow deposits (adopted after a noticed public hearing). - Ordinance 45-13-26 — Acquisition of Block 508.02, Lot 11 (commonly 287 Cedar Grove Lane) for open-space preservation, adopted after a noticed public hearing under NJSA 40A:12-13A. - Ordinance 45-14-26 — Capital appropriation of $5,460,000 from the Open Space Trust Fund to pay for the property identified above (adopted by roll call).
Introduced (first reading, public hearing scheduled for Aug. 11, 2026): - Ordinance 45-15A-26 — Substituted/revised cannabis chapter with amended license-fee structure (council adopted a fee amendment at the meeting and introduced the ordinance for first reading). - Ordinance 45-16-26 — New short-term rentals chapter (introduced for first reading; public hearing scheduled Aug. 11, 2026).
The clerk recorded unanimous 'Yes' votes on the final-reading adoptions listed above. The council closed public comment and proceeded with routine consent-agenda items and warrants totaling $4,793,988.04.
