The Caney City Council approved the sale of two land-bank lots at 1201 and 1207 N Wood and authorized related contracts and a memorandum of understanding at its July 6 meeting.
Mayor Josh Elliot said he had confirmed a one‑year deadline for the property transfers and that the City Attorney had reviewed the sale documents with no issues. Prospective buyers indicated they had no objections to the ordinance. Council discussed language that had previously required park inhabitants to move their RV out of the park to reset a six‑month stay; staff reported the City Attorney removed that clause from the ordinance.
Council President Jeff Culver moved to approve Resolution 2026-27 and authorize necessary signatures; Council Member Becky Dye seconded the motion and it carried 4-0. The council then approved the real estate contract for the two lots by similar motion and approved a memorandum of understanding that records brush removal and the buyers' agreement to provide water and sewer connections because the units will be deemed new builds. All motions carried 4-0.
Council recorded that brush had been removed from the lots and that buyers will secure utility connections prior to development.
