Caney council declares several properties unsafe, orders repair or demolition with monitoring periods

200 W Taylor (Resolution 2026-23): The property owner told the council they did not have funds to demolish the structure in one project and requested an extension to take the work in stages. Staff noted the resolution includes a nine-month monitoring period before the city may act. Council Member Jesse Hilyard moved to approve Resolution 2026-23 for 200 W Taylor, seconded by Council Member Elizabeth Burch; the motion carried 4-0.
1102 N High (Resolution 2026-24): Mayor Elliot reported the property owners had patched roofs and planned further repairs during the summer. Council approved Resolution 2026-24 with a similar nine-month monitoring approach; motion carried 4-0.
404 N Foreman (Resolution 2026-25): Staff said there had been no contact from the owner and that the Code Enforcement Officer confirmed violations remained; the council approved the resolution and authorized signatures, 4-0.
601 N Foreman (Resolution 2026-26): Council discussed that the agenda originally listed an incorrect street name (601 N Fawn) and staff clarified the correct address. The homeowner expressed interest in applying for a CDBG Housing Revitalization grant but is outside the extended target area (staff noted the southern property line touches the target-area boundary). Council approved Resolution 2026-26, 4-0.
