Wooster board approves buses, gym refinish, construction-manager agreement and strategic plan

On procurement and vehicles, the board approved purchases from Ohio Schools Council bids: two school buses for $323,664 (budgeted from the general fund) and two vans costing $158,925 (paid from Permanent Improvement funds). The treasurer said the purchases were already accounted for in the budget and would not change the current forecast.
The board approved two "then-and-now" certificates to cover a fuel bill from Red Rover and a late invoice from a juvenile-detention placement; in discussion the treasurer confirmed the district uses multiple fuel suppliers and maintains an on-site diesel tank for buses.
On facilities, the superintendent recommended contracting RNG Floors to fully refinish the Wooster High School gym after this summer—s polyurethane started to peel and expose the floor. "It's not safe," the superintendent said, recommending work starting Sept. 1 and completing around Sept. 18. The district plans to host three volleyball home matches at alternate sites so no home matches are lost.
For Parkview Elementary work, the board approved resolutions to join national purchasing consortiums and a construction-manager-at-risk (CMR) procurement path to use Resili for preconstruction services. The superintendent said the consortium membership and CMR approach speed procurement and avoid time-consuming RFP/RFQ steps; he said the guarantee-maximum-price process would follow and additional Resili approvals would come later.
The board also approved a membership agreement with the Metropolitan Educational Technology Association for technology purchasing and services and then voted to approve the 2026–2030 strategic plan after a second reading. The superintendent noted small edits to the plan, including the explicit addition of bullying language to a goal and clarified stakeholder participation in community engagement objectives. When asked about bullying and civil-rights reporting, the superintendent said the district submits EMIS and civil-rights data annually and offered to provide statistics to the board.
All motions on these items were approved by roll-call-style verbal assent.
