Bloomington trustees approve August spending, temporary event alcohol permits and proceed with sump-pump fines

The Village of Bloomington Board at its Sept. 2, 2025 meeting approved routine financial items and several administrative actions: trustees accepted the August accounts payable report totaling $34,146.86 in combined fund expenditures, approved August meeting minutes, authorized two temporary alcohol licenses for upcoming fall events, and approved moving forward with fines for sump pump ordinance violations after required notifications.

Clerk/Treasurer Shawna Atterbury verified open meeting compliance, confirmed necessary forms for the temporary permits had been submitted, and said she will process a delayed 2% fire department payment of $2,445.16. Trustees approved a temporary alcohol license for St. Mary's Congregation for its Sept. 13–14 Fall Festival and for Blake's Prairie Fair Board for the Sept. 21 mud bog event.

On enforcement, trustees directed staff to proceed with fines for properties not complying with the village sump-pump ordinance; specific addresses were identified as having failed to comply after multiple notices. The board also reported it filed a 2026 Grant County Road Aid application (culvert work at First Street & County Road A and at Fourth Street & State Hwy 35) with a maximum requested amount of $2,000 and scheduled a finance committee meeting for Sept. 23 to begin the 2026 budget process.

Trustees moved into closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85 to consider personnel matters and reconvened in open session later in the meeting. The board adjourned at the close of business and set its next regular meeting for Oct. 6, 2025.
