Bloomington board approves multiple business licenses, quarry access contract, land‑use permits and a summer pay raise

At its June 2 meeting the Village of Bloomington board approved several routine items including business licenses, a quarry access contract, land‑use permits and a summer‑help wage increase.
The board approved Alcohol Beverage and Tobacco Retailers licenses, operator licenses and machine licenses for Route 35, Blue Jay’s Bar & Grill, Whispers & Thyme, Bloomington Stop & Go, Economy Feed Mill and Hoffman’s Court Street Property. The Bloomington Park Concession Stand Group received a six‑month Class B beer license for concessions. Each license motion was made and seconded by trustees and carried by the board.
The board accepted a WTCC contract allowing village access to a quarry for brush and natural yard waste at a cost of $2,000 per year; the contract forbids treated wood or material with nails. The motion to accept the contract was made by Trustee Alan Mergen and seconded by Trustee Dennis Moris.
On land‑use permits, the board approved Tim Senn’s request to install steel siding and a roof on a west addition and barn (motion by Moris, seconded by Allen) and approved Aaron and Kimberly Maag’s request to add a deck to their home (motion by Dawn Drew, seconded by Alan Mergen). The board also approved a wage increase for summer help employee Brenden Jentz from $11/hour to $12/hour after a positive performance report (motion by Chassity Allen, seconded by Alan Mergen).
Board members postponed review of updated utility ordinances, an electronic mapping upgrade and future improvement projects to a later meeting.
