Sheriff's monthly report: Belleair Beach logs 729 events in August; traffic enforcement yields 214 citations/warnings

Sergeant Wade Agan of the Dallas County Sheriff's Office presented August public-safety statistics to the Belleair Beach City Council on Sept. 15.
Agan reported one burglary (described in the report as a squatter incident) and one theft involving a lawn mower. He said officers made a DUI arrest that also produced a controlled-substance charge. The sheriff's office logged 729 events in the city during the month and recorded 813 unit responses for traffic stops, house checks, 9-1-1 hangups and domestic calls. Traffic enforcement in the month resulted in 214 citations and warnings, with hotspot activity near portions of Casey Boulevard, 4th Street and 14th Street.
When asked about reports of indecent or nude activity on the beach, the sergeant said enforcement depends on location and circumstances and that state statutes for indecent exposure can apply; he encouraged residents to report concerns to law enforcement so officers can respond and investigate.
The council thanked the sergeant and had no further questions for the report.
