The Grafton Select Board voted at its Sept. 8 emergency meeting to have town staff pursue extending the use of Truck No. 3 and to reject the current bid(s), with the possibility of reissuing a new solicitation.
A board member (speaker S5) moved that John speak with David about extending Truck No. 3's use into the upcoming period, reject the current bids, and consider putting a new bid out. Another member seconded the motion; the Chair asked for those in favor and announced the motion had passed.
Board members said their preference for further discussion with David was driven by the fact the packet included only one bid and the board typically expects two or three bids for comparability. The board directed staff to consult with the named town contacts and return the matter to the next regular meeting if additional decisions are needed.
No contract award occurred at the meeting; the action was a direction to staff to pursue negotiation and re-solicitation as appropriate.
