The Augusta County School Board approved a contract to begin phase 1 of the Buffalo Gap High School softball field project.
Mister Martin (S9), representing maintenance, told the board that bid packets were distributed to five vendors, two submitted bids, and maintenance recommended awarding the contract to Creation Appreciation as the lowest responsive bidder. "Phase 1 will be the field layout, the excavating, installing the infield dirt, grading and seeding the outfield," Martin said, describing the work that will make the area playable for practices though not meeting VHSL competition requirements because fencing and permanent lights are not included at this stage.
Board members asked about funding and timeline; Martin said funding came from monies reappropriated from last year and staff expects phase 1 to be finished by mid-April. The board moved to accept the recommended bid and approved the contract by voice vote, 7–0.
Note on vendor name spelling: the transcript used inconsistent spellings ("Creation Appreciation" and "Creative Appreciation"). The board packet recommendation and staff presentation identified the low bidder as Creation Appreciation; the record reflects the name as presented by staff.
