Amherst Town Council on July 8 approved routine business including last month’s minutes, the monthly check register, and the purchase of a new maintenance truck.
Councilmember Sundom Murphy moved to accept the minutes; the motion was seconded and the minutes were approved with one recorded abstention. The council also accepted the monthly check register by voice vote.
Town staff reported that the new maintenance truck is budgeted and will be purchased through a state contract, at a cost about $3,000 over the approved budget. "The total cost is about $3,000 more than you budgeted, but we will take that out of existing budgeted funds," Miss McGuffin said, asking the council to approve the purchase. The council approved the purchase by voice vote, with the transcript noting the motion as carried 5‑0‑0 for that item.
No additional financing measures were recorded; staff indicated the overage would be covered from within the existing budget.
