The adoption followed a presentation summarizing the plan’s data and recommendations and a report that the planning commission had unanimously recommended the council approve the plan. "I presented a lot of the demographics and data, and even some of the survey results," the presenter said while summarizing the plan’s key points for council members.
The plan, called up at a public hearing, revises local guidance on housing affordability and land use and is intended to give the town a single document to inform zoning, grant applications and future infrastructure investment. Council members thanked staff and regional partners for the work that went into the draft and noted it reflected many items raised by residents during outreach.
Councilor comments during the hearing emphasized housing and the role of forthcoming rezoning items on the agenda. The council moved and seconded the adoption and, with no recorded opposition, declared the motion carried.
The action completes the council’s formal step to adopt the plan; staff will publish the final document and incorporate it into forthcoming work plans and grant applications.
