Augusta County School Board honors nurses, support staff and business partners at May meeting

Nurse recognition: Carol Cash highlighted the division’s nursing staff and operations. Cash said the division has 14 registered nurses, 9 LPNs and 3 clinic aides; three nurses hold national certification and one serves on the Virginia Association of School Nurse Board (named in the presentation). She reported the division’s clinics recorded 128,217 total student visits through April, with 7% sent home and 93% returned to class. Staff also reported 55,038 medications dispensed through April, mandatory hearing and vision screenings completed for pre-K, kindergarten, grades 3, 7 and 10, and that 294 staff and community members had been trained in CPR.
Support-staff awards: Shannon Brake introduced the division’s support-staff-of-the-year honorees from each school. Principals described nominees’ roles and community impact; winners included front-office staff, instructional assistants, custodians, bus drivers, and nurses from multiple schools.
Business Honor Roll: Dr. Troxell presented plaques to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, the Community Foundation and Lingo Networks in recognition of resource officers and partnership activities (scholarships, teacher recognition, program sponsorship).
The board applauded honorees and thanked staff and community partners for their contributions.
