Chuck Christian, identifying himself as the project lead for Maker Housing Partners, used the public-comment period to reintroduce a proposed redevelopment of the old schoolhouse at 7295 Washington Street and to state the project's pending request for state affordable-housing tax credits.
Christian told the board that Maker Housing Partners would request an allocation of approximately $1,900,000 in annual state affordable-housing tax credits, which over six years equals approximately $11,400,000 of total state tax-credit allocation. "This application's total project cost is $65,000,000," Christian said, and he said an award of tax credits would allow the developer to start construction as soon as September of next year.
Christian also requested the board's continued support for the project as it pursues a Colorado Housing and Finance Authority tax-credit application and thanked county staff and commissioners for prior assistance.
The comment was the lone public speaker on a short agenda that otherwise moved into awards and consent business. No formal county action was taken during public comment; the applicant recorded the statement for the public record as part of the CHFA application process.
