Belleair Shore reviews treasurer's report; FEMA reimbursement sought and beach gate quotes pending

Town Clerk Mary F. Palmer reviewed the Town of Belleair Shore’s December 2024 treasurer's report at the Jan. 21 meeting, calling attention to an expenditure to "Phillip and Jordan" for debris removal and stating she is working with FEMA for reimbursement of that charge. Commissioners discussed ad valorem tax issues and tax breaks for homeowners displaced by recent storms.
Mayor Blume said he has received another quote for new beach access gates and will present competing quotes after completing a review. He reported that "Kyle" has been doing concrete work at the 1200 beach access and that several residents have raised concerns about piles of clean sand left on the beach; Blume said he would reach out to Kyle to address the sand.
District Chief Raisch reported nothing major to note from Suncoast Fire, and Sergeant Bolt reported December statistics showing no violent crimes, arrests, crashes, citations or warnings, with 81 events mostly consisting of directed beach-access patrols.
No new funding allocations or formal budget actions were taken at the meeting.
