During non-agenda comments on Sept. 17, Commissioner Tolbert showed a photograph of a damaged pillar at 600 Gulf Blvd. and said the town’s interlocal agreement assigns responsibility for that repair to Belleair Beach. Vice Mayor Storie reported seeing a person maintaining property on the beach and emphasized that private-property rules apply. Mayor Blume asked that Belleair Beach be billed for litigation-related attorney fees and for additional liability-insurance costs the town has incurred; Attorney Lewis will draft a letter for the commission’s review at the next meeting.
Commissioners discussed that there are conflicts between the interlocal agreement and town ordinances and said the town ordinances need updating to conform with the interlocal agreement. The minutes record no formal vote on the matter and no immediate billing action; the recorded outcome was direction to counsel to prepare a draft letter for the commission to consider.
Other related property issues noted earlier in the meeting: Deputy Trump reported that a house at 300 Gulf Blvd. was demolished and the lot secured, and that 660 Gulf Blvd. had been cleared and cleaned up. Those code-enforcement items were presented as status updates and no enforcement votes or penalties were taken during the meeting.
Next steps: Attorney Lewis will draft a letter concerning legal-fee and insurance reimbursements for commission review at the next meeting.
