ACES presents multiyear school support plan, aims to raise framework score to 83 by 2028

The presentation described a comprehensive needs assessment (CNA) and goals that the school and division developed using multiple datasets, including SOL history, discipline and attendance data. The plan sets a target to increase ACES’ overall school performance and support framework score from 77.1 to 83 by June 2028 and emphasizes measurable goals tied to indicators for reading and math.
Dr. Browning said the grant funds will primarily support professional development, ongoing coaching, professional learning communities (PLCs) and partner support (including work with NIET) to implement evidence-based interventions. Presenters described instructional strategies such as explicit step-by-step instruction, systematic reading interventions, concrete-representational-abstract approaches in math and spiral review focused on mastery and growth.
Board members asked whether the TSI funds could support family outreach beyond instructional interventions. Dr. Browning replied the TSI grant must focus on instructional supports, but other funding sources—Title funds or BTSS—might be used for additional family engagement activities.
The board later voted to approve the TSI grant as part of the meeting’s action items.
What it means If implemented as described, the plan directs grant resources toward classroom instruction and teacher supports rather than non-instructional services. The plan is a three-year, living document that ACES staff said they will review annually and revise as needed.
