Amelia County school board approves ACES TSI grant, calendar changes and routine personnel items

Board members moved and approved the ACES TSI grant after a presentation from Dr. Browning describing the school’s multiyear support plan. The chair announced the motion passes. The board also approved the personnel agenda, accepted January minutes and approved bills and routine information as presented during the consent portion of the meeting.
On the calendar, the board voted to change March 13, 2026, from a scheduled half day to a full instructional day. Separately, members approved a contingency plan that would add 11 instructional minutes to the school day if the division loses two additional full instructional days due to inclement weather. Board members said the 11-minute change would activate only after the second additional closure and that the division would notify the community if the contingency is triggered.
Other approved items included rescheduling a March 9 meet-and-greet to April 13 at ACES and approval of an ACHS DECA overnight field trip to Virginia Beach.
