Madison aldermen adopt multiple cleaning resolutions; one property hearing tabled

Code Enforcement Officer Steve Greenough presented multiple cleaning matters during the public-hearing portion of the Sept. 3 meeting.
At 319 Arapaho Lane, Greenough reported mailed notices and continued nonresponse; owner Vanessa Barry attended and said the family had not been home when officers visited and submitted photos showing the lots had been cleaned. Alderman Paul Tankersley moved to adopt a Cleaning Resolution granting the city authority to clean the property if owners do not maintain it; Alderman Mike Hudgins seconded and the board approved it unanimously.
The hearing for 430 Ash Tree Lane was tabled after the owner and her daughter explained they had been out of the country for several months due to a family emergency and a family member who was expected to mow had not done so. Alderman Tankersley moved to table; Alderman Tatum seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board adopted cleaning resolutions for 144 Glenwood Drive (owner Will Inman present and committing to maintain the yard), Lot 12-A in Pecan Creek (recently sold for taxes; company owner indicated it would not maintain the property), and 213 Travis Trail. Each adoption followed a motion and second recorded in the minutes and passed by unanimous vote.
The resolutions are attached to the official minutes as Exhibit Z; they authorize the City to proceed with cutting, cleaning or other measures if property owners fail to maintain their lots and provide required contact or remediation.
