The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors approved a series of routine fiscal and personnel items during its July 14 meeting in Burlington.
On motions by Vice Chair Tom Brooker and Member Jim Cary, the board approved the purchase of a protective casing for the ISICS controller at the Yarmouth siren, the Recorder's Office depository of funds, department letters of cash on hand, the 2026 homestead and military exemptions, and the FY2027 list of depositories. Minutes and monthly fee reports for June 2026 were presented and the July 7 regular meeting minutes were approved.
The board also approved personnel items presented by the Recorder and the Correctional Center. The Recorder's Office recorded a request from second deputy Renae Koehler for 67.5 hours of unpaid leave. At the Correctional Center, the board approved the hire of part-time correctional officer Stacey Hammond at $19.14 per hour effective July 16; a six-month step increase for full-time correctional officer Christella Boyer to a new annual salary of $54,492.19 effective Aug. 3; and a 12-month step increase for part-time cook Alisyn Moody to $17.94 per hour effective Aug. 2.
