ESC confirms liaisons, plans outreach and a 30 kW solar newsletter piece

At its July 2 meeting, the Environmental Sustainability Committee confirmed liaison assignments for several town building and safety projects, reviewed recent outreach efforts, and set follow-up tasks including a newsletter item on a planned 30 kW solar photovoltaic installation at the fire station renovation.
A liaison spreadsheet was screen-shared and the committee voted (moved by Eric Balles; seconded by Kyra Prats) to confirm that Keith Therrien will continue as ESC voting member on the DPW Building Committee, that Eric Balles will remain ESC voting member on the Fire Station Building Renovation Committee, and that Eric will also serve on the Safety Committee as the ESC voting member.
Under outreach, Christina Christodoulopoulos said ESC Hour! had low attendance in June but noted strong interest in bat and invasive-plant books at Old Home Day. Members said the SuAsCo co-sponsored dam event exceeded capacity and reported that the Conservation Commission may be considering dam removal and habitat restoration. Christina also circulated a report on the OARS water chestnut-pulling event composed by Jonathan DeKock.
The committee agreed there will be no July town newsletter; Eric Balles will compose a short article about the fire stations proposed 30 kW solar PV for review at the next meeting. In the Zoom chat, attendee Sara Dunleavy offered to help with light-pollution work, writing: "I'd be happy to help Kyra with light pollution if that would be OK with her." The committee recorded its action items and adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
Next steps: Eric will draft the solar PV newsletter blurb for committee review and Christina will email the website spreadsheet and prepare the Select Board submission and endorsement letter as authorized.
