Bloomington police report thefts at sewer plant and other seasonal enforcement actions

Chief Small told the Village Board on Dec. 1 that the police department has observed ongoing trespassing and theft at the wastewater treatment plant and has begun public notification efforts to discourage dumping and stealing.
"The facility is not for dumping or taking resources," Chief Small said, adding that the department posted on Facebook to notify residents and would consider stronger enforcement if the problem continues. He also reported addressing a complaint about chickens at large and roosters crowing, which he handled by speaking with the owner and said there have been no further complaints.
The chief summarized other recent calls including a peace/domestic complaint where a restraining order was discussed as an option, an animal complaint regarding geese on Mill Street, and a noise complaint at an apartment building. He reported the department purchased a new computer for $1,092.01 and expects to recover about $550 from selling old equipment, with the new unit to be added to the state’s January software update. He also noted starting winter parking enforcement for vehicles left unchanged for 48 hours.
