Board forwards utility ordinance after tariff clarification, asks fees be verified

The Village Board unanimously voted Oct. 6 to forward an updated utility ordinance, including water and sewer schedules, to Attorney Wood for legal adjustments after staff verify the correct rates.
President Robert McLimans told trustees he had learned from Johnson Block and Delta 3 contacts that the village’s approved water tariff contains a 'water lateral installation charge' permitting recovery of actual lateral installation costs when not otherwise collected through subdivision agreements or other means. McLimans said the finding addressed the board’s earlier question about whether the village could impose a larger installation fee.
Clerk Atterbury cautioned the sewer schedule in the draft ordinance did not match the village’s current charges: the draft listed a fixed quarterly charge of $36 and a volume charge of $3.60 per 1,000 gallons, while the village currently charges $61.58 fixed per quarter and $6.73 per 1,000 gallons. McLimans agreed to contact Mr. Hoppman at Delta 3 to confirm the correct rates before Attorney Wood finalizes ordinance language.
Trustees moved (McLimans) and seconded (Moris) to forward the updated utility ordinance to Attorney Wood for final adjustments once the water and sewer schedules are verified; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved two engagement letters from Johnson Block for PSC compilation and Form C water utility reporting (motion Scott Daentl/second Dawn Drew).
