Bloomington board signs county aid petition, approves sidewalk cost share and notes Republic Services acquisition

The Bloomington Village Board at its Aug. 4 meeting approved several infrastructure and public‑works items including a petition for county road funds, a sidewalk cost‑sharing payment and maintenance planning for drains and intersections.
On a motion by Dennis Moris, seconded by Michelle Atterbury, the board authorized completing, signing and returning the petition for 2026 County Aid Construction funds to the Grant County Highway Department. The action was recorded as unanimous.
The board also approved a motion by Robert McLimans, seconded by Alan Mergen, to pay one half of the cost to replace the sidewalk at 628 4th Street. Separately, maintenance staff informed the board that a storm drain on Pleasant Street needs replacement and that the intersection of County A and 1st Street will require repair; the board directed staff to obtain estimates for inclusion in the 2026 budget.
Board members noted that Town and Country Sanitation was acquired by Republic Services, and that Republic Services will honor the village's existing contract; pickup times for garbage and recycling may shift later in the day.
