The Chair and board members discussed committee membership and agreed Morgan should participate because she will work closely with the foreman; one board member recused himself because an applicant is a relative.
Board members said interviews should be scheduled this week or next so the town can make a hiring decision in time to prepare for November. The Chair asked staff to share candidate materials with the committee.
Separately, the board discussed a budget trade-off: one member proposed reducing a $200,000 line to $120,000 and using bond proceeds to pay off a truck, freeing funds for raises and benefits. That proposal remained under discussion and was deferred to the Thursday budget meeting on Oct. 9, where detailed budget figures and capital requests will be considered; no formal vote on the reallocation was taken.
Board members also discussed a flood-related engineering delay tied to wetlands and said staff will file for an extension and provide a report back to the board.
