The council then approved a construction award for project SS76639 to MB Con Water Works LLC for up to $34,203,485 including contingency; staff noted the construction contract includes several local subcontractors and will commence upon issuance of a notice to proceed.
Staff said the project scope covers thickening improvements at the Metro plant intended to improve solids handling and overall treatment efficiency. The professional‑services amendment extends current work on design and construction management; the construction award will fund the build phase and includes an 814‑day contract term from commencement as stated in the agenda materials.
Council approved both measures by unanimous recorded roll calls. Staff noted the design and construction contracts are local to Columbia and the professional services amendment keeps the project on the schedule for completion under the stated contract term.
