Grant County Commission unanimously approves equipment-sharing MOU, contracts, grants and clerk actions

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Grant County Commission unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding for shared use of a trailer-mounted chipper, a dumpster contract for Camp Echo, FY27 records management grant documents, an application to the WV Spay Neuter Assistance Program, and declared certain equipment surplus; the commission also approved routine clerk estate actions and expenses.
The Grant County Commission at its regular meeting on Jan. 13, 2026 in Petersburg unanimously approved several administrative agreements, grant applications and routine clerk actions.
Commissioners voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Region VIII Solid Waste Authority establishing shared use of the Woodchuck Trailer Mounted Chipper. The motion to approve the MOU was recorded as moved by Commissioner Scotty W. Miley and passed unanimously.
The commission also approved the 2026 dumpster rental contract for Camp Echo with Hott Disposal Service Inc.; Commissioner Kevin P. Hagerty moved that motion, which passed unanimously.
Commissioners authorized signature of the FY27 Records Management & Preservation Board grant application and accompanying resolution; that approval was recorded as a motion by Commissioner Scotty W. Miley and passed unanimously.
The commission approved signing an application for the West Virginia Spay Neuter Assistance Program (motion moved by Commissioner Kevin P. Hagerty) and approved declaring certain equipment surplus for disposal or disposition (motion moved by Commissioner Kevin P. Hagerty); both motions passed unanimously.
The meeting record also shows the commission approved the Actions of the Clerk (Exhibit A-1), which encompassed wills recorded and admitted to probate, qualification orders for estate representatives, ancillary administrations, and small estate certificates. The clerk's report (Lora Bennett) noted new shelving was installed in the records room and that the candidate filing period opened Jan. 12 and will close at midnight Jan. 31, 2026.
The minutes indicate that payments listed in Exhibit A-3 were approved; the document contains line-item expenses across county funds and vendor payments and is available for public inspection through the county clerk. The meeting was adjourned following the approvals.
