Woodbury — Voters chose Lily Baron as town treasurer and filled multiple town offices during the 2026 annual town meeting.
Nominations opened for treasurer and two candidates were put forward: incumbent Lily Baron (nominated by Lizzie Higgins) and former treasurer Brandy Smith (nominated by Amy Hunt). Several voters requested a paper ballot; the assembly agreed and the clerk announced results after counting: of 116 ballots cast, Lily Baron received 98 votes and Brandy Smith 18. Moderator Stephen Murphy declared Lily Baron elected to a three‑year term.
The meeting then moved through nominations for other town offices. John Gordon was nominated and elected to the select board (clerk instructed to cast the single validating ballot). Ron Wells was elected lister and later elected collector of delinquent taxes (acclamation as sole nominee). Susan Stitely, Khaki Peltz and others were elected to cemetery commission positions; Allison (Ally) Schmidt was elected library trustee, and Steven Fryhofer was elected Hazen Union School District director. Where only a single nominee was presented, the assembly instructed the clerk to cast the validating ballot.
Why it mattered: Filling these offices completes statutory town governance roles for the coming terms. The treasurer race was the only contested election requiring a paper ballot and produced a two‑candidate result recorded by the town clerk.
What’s next: Newly elected officers were asked to complete paperwork and take oaths with the town clerk after the meeting.
