Marineland Commission limits reimbursement window, discusses interim pay increases and CRA spending clarity

Vice Mayor Douglas “Dewey” Dew Jr. told the Commission on May 21 that he had shared his expense report with Financial Consultant Mark Simpson and Town Clerk and Comptroller Wilshem Pennick. Commissioners debated what expenses should be eligible for reimbursement and the cutoff date for submission.
By consensus the Commission agreed Vice Mayor Dewey’s reimbursement consideration would be limited to expenses incurred during the current fiscal year. Commissioners also discussed whether an interim increase in compensation might be appropriate for the Town Manager, commissioners and other staff in light of the town’s expanding activity level, and asked for clearer accounting of available funds and which expenses may legitimately be paid through the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
Commissioners referenced the history of compensation and the town’s progress toward formalizing administrative operations; no formal votes or salary changes were recorded at the workshop.
