Tom Hatch, a member of the Parks & Recreation Committee, reported the committee’s second concert drew about 120 people and said a band called Country Roads is scheduled for the next performance. Hatch said the committee is planning parking and outreach for the event and noted Oktoberfest is planned for Oct. 18 with a rain date of Oct. 25; committees may set up tables.
During public comment, Joe Wagner announced the Age-Friendly ad hoc committee will hold a public forum on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. in town hall to explain a proposed volunteer driver pilot and to recruit possible volunteers. Wagner advised residents to view the committee’s meeting recording on YouTube for background and said he will contact the town underwriter to discuss insurance for the program. He also reminded the board the town’s food drive runs through next Monday.
Board members discussed donation-handling options for Parks & Rec, noting the town can accept donations via the MyRec system rather than Venmo, and agreed to consider QR code and newsletter items to promote events.
The board took no formal vote on the volunteer driver program at the meeting; Wagner said the ad hoc committee will seek a one-year extension on its charge at a future agenda.
