The Goddard City Council authorized staff Jan. 27 to place an order for a pre‑engineered metal building (PEMB) for the new Public Works facility to avoid an anticipated supplier price increase.
City Administrator Craig Crossette told council suppliers had warned of a possible 10–12% price increase at the end of January that would add an estimated $40,000 to the building cost. Crossette said the PEMB price is approximately $382,000 and that total construction is estimated at $4–4.1 million, which is projected to remain under the city’s $5 million budget for the project. He provided renderings and floor plans showing offices, training rooms, locker rooms and an exterior wash bay.
Crossette outlined a project schedule that includes a groundbreaking on April 6, 2026, with construction expected to take about nine months; staff also budgeted approximately $250,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment outside the primary construction contract. Crossette and representatives from the design‑build team were available to answer council questions.
Councilmember Krista Hall moved to approve placing the order; Councilmember Corey Dir seconded and the motion carried 5‑0.
