The council also approved the planned purchase of a 2026 Chevy Tahoe pursuit vehicle to support an additional officer and to sustain the replacement plan for the fleet. Staff presented vehicle costs of $56,600, emergency upfitting at $29,551, and decals at $650, totaling approximately $86,801 as moved in the meeting. The presenter said the purchase will come from the PD operating budget and the planned vehicle/fleet line item for 2026.
Council members noted operational benefits such as improved officer safety, better visibility and space for prisoner transport, and resale value advantages for larger SUVs. The motions passed by unanimous voice vote.
