Mayor Crowe presided over the City Council meeting on July 6, where the council unanimously adopted Ordinance 2026-10 to rezone properties along Nicholas Drive from Agriculture (A) to Multiple Family Residential (R-3).
The rezoning followed a public hearing in which Monica Berrier, speaking for Grass Roots Organizing of Western Wisconsin, and Adam Accola, Director of Economic Development for Dunn County, each spoke in support of the proposed change. After motions to waive both readings and a roll call vote, the ordinance was adopted.
In a separate but related action the council approved issuing a request for statements of qualification for an affordable multiple‑family residential housing development on Nicholas Drive. The RFQ motion was made by Councilmember Pickard, seconded by Councilmember Schwebs, and carried unanimously.
The ordinance changes the zoning designation for the affected parcels to R‑3; the council did not specify in the meeting record any development partner or a construction timeline. Public commenters at the hearing urged support for housing options on the site. The council took formal action to clear the regulatory step and to begin the procurement process for qualified developers.
The council adopted Ordinance 2026-10 and authorized the RFQ during the same session; no further design or funding decisions were recorded at this meeting.
