The Planning, Economic Development and Housing Committee voted July 21 to send a favorable recommendation to the full council for sale of 22–24 Westland Street to Cheryl Thompson for redevelopment.
William Diaz of Development Services said the buyer will rehab the structure and that the project team expects to invest "approximately $311,000 estimated into this parcel." Diaz said the transfer will include a recorded use restriction running five years to ensure owner occupancy.
Cheryl Thompson, who said she is nearing completion on a separate project at 214–216 Mather Street, told the committee, "within about 3 weeks or so, we would be fully completed," and that she is working with a realtor and pursuing preapproved buyers and first‑time homebuyer financing to keep units owner‑occupied.
Council members praised the visible before‑and‑after progress from the earlier Mather Street project and voted to send the Westland sale back to the City Council with a favorable recommendation. The item will appear on the next full council agenda for final approval.
