Green Township schedules EverGreen Park paving, notes storm cleanup and tree removals

Township Clerk Mark Zschack told the Green Township Committee on Nov. 3 that several public-works projects and storm-recovery efforts are underway and scheduled.
Zschack said paving on Yellow Frame Road is complete but the contractor awaits guide-rail installation. He reported that over the recent weekend multiple trees fell—many involving overhead wires—and the Department of Public Works responded to calls and coordinated temporary road closures with the State Police and the Fire Department. Over the next two weeks, the township will engage a tree service to remove dangerous trees and, as time allows, will perform elevation work on a few roads.
Zschack said milling and paving of EverGreen Park’s entrance road, parking lot and walking path are scheduled for the coming week; the exact days had not yet been determined. He also said the municipal engineer is still pursuing milling and paving of the Pequest Road tunnel this year.
On grant opportunities, Zschack noted township staff will explore a 2026 Sussex County Trails Grant (maximum $25,000; application due March 15, 2026) and will coordinate with staff members Tom Knutulsky and Jason to determine the best use of a potential award. The clerk said a draft property-maintenance code will be presented for discussion at the next meeting.
Committee members publicly thanked DPW crews for their cleanup work. James DeYoung raised an ongoing problem with garbage left at the collection box by the Tranquility Post Office; Zschack said a resident complained and suggested moving the collection box, possibly to the Municipal Building. Michael Rose asked staff to adjust the park gate timer after the end of daylight saving time. No public comments were received during either public-comment period.
The Committee noted the next meeting and budget workshop for Nov. 24, 2025; the meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
