Ravenswood to name tennis courts after longtime volunteer Dave Crow

Ravenswood officials proclaimed on March 3 that the city’s tennis courts will be named for volunteer coach Dave Crow.
Dalton Gandy introduced the recognition and told the council Crow has taught tennis in Ravenswood for roughly 50 years. "If you zoom that out to a bigger picture, Dave Crow has been teaching tennis at Ravenswood for 50 years," Gandy said, adding that an estimated 14 of 15 recent players at a spring practice had worked with Crow and that "50 times 14" translates to hundreds of local players Crow has coached over the decades.
Taylor Randolph, speaking as a student athlete, said Crow has been consistently available to help players in the off-season, buys or repairs rackets for kids in need and ‘‘teaches you everything you need to know about tennis.’’ Mayor Josh Miller read the council’s proclamation, formally naming the facility the Dave Crow Tennis Courts and noting an alumni tournament and dedication celebration scheduled for April 26.
The proclamation described Crow’s decades of volunteer service to youth athletics and framed the naming as a lasting tribute to his contributions. Council members said the city will produce framed copies of the proclamation for records and the courts.
The council plans to hold formal photos and a court dedication at the April 26 event so Crow and family can be present.
