Ronceverte mayor outlines Island Park projects; city announces grants and spring events

The Ronceverte mayor told the council on March 10 that the Parks & Recreation committee meeting was postponed to April because of illness, but she reviewed several projects planned or underway at Island Park.
Mayor Deena Pack said the city is proceeding with a disc golf course and a miniature golf course at the former Jardin/public pool site and has obtained new shade structures to install at the Splash Pad ahead of the season. City Administrator Pam Mentz announced multiple grants: a technical grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to fund livestream equipment for council meetings, additional grant funding to provide shading at the Splash Pad and cleaning of the Clifford Armory/Community Center, and a separate grant from the Marie Leist Foundation to repair damaged streetlights.
Officials also announced community events and timelines: the Make It Shine community clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025; the 3rd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Island Park on April 19, 2025; and the River Festival is set for June 12–14, 2025. The council’s next regular meeting is April 7, 2025.
The Parks & Recreation committee will meet in April to provide a fuller update and to discuss implementation steps for Island Park projects and grant-funded work.
