City staff reported to the East Grand Forks City Council on July 21 that the Blue Creek fiber project and a separate bike-trail reconstruction are progressing as planned.
Emery, the staff member providing the update, said areas 5 and 6 of the Blue Creek project have fiber fully installed and that conduit installation in area 4 is about 75% complete; once conduit installation is finished, fiber installation in that area will begin and staff expect work to continue into the near term. Work south of the Red Lake River remains contingent on permitting and likely will occur in a later construction season.
On the bike-trail project, Emery reported that contractor site work began with shaping and grading of topsoil and that the contractor hoped to have seeding completed by the end of the week or, if delayed, in the first part of next week. Emery summarized progress as positive and said contractors have been restoring concrete and seeding behind the work zones as they finish sections.
The council was given no new construction schedule for portions south of the river; staff noted permitting was in progress and anticipated that those sections may be scheduled for a future construction season.
