Sac City Council approves consent agenda, adopts hazard mitigation match resolution and posts bark park rules

Sac City’s council met Tuesday and unanimously approved a consent agenda that included agenda and minutes approval, two retail alcohol license renewals, a tobacco-permit renewal and the payment of city claims, the council said. Mayor Scott Bundt presided.

Councilmember Tom Lownik moved to approve the consent agenda and Teresa Bruening seconded. The claims list read into the record included vendor line items such as MidAmerican electricity ($14,814.20), Clayton Energy charges for commodity and reservation services (multiple entries totaling tens of thousands), and various public-safety and public-works invoices. The transcript records a ‘Total Claims’ figure of $139,671.86 and a separate subtotal of $44,353.44 for an earlier subset of invoices. Fund-level allocations noted included General Fund $9,005.62, Water Utility $7,915.28, Sewer Utility $14,102.59 and Garbage Utility $3,388.03. A roll call vote on the claims returned ayes from Mahler, Murley, Shull, Bruening and Lownik; there were no nays.

Later in the meeting, the council accepted recommended rules for the city’s bark park. Bob Murley moved to accept the PRNR recommendations and Larry Mahler seconded; the council voted in favor (ayes: Shull, Bruening, Lownik, Mahler, Murley).

The council also approved Resolution No. 2026-34, titled “A Resolution Authorizing Local Match for the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program.” The resolution was introduced by Bob Murley; Teresa Bruening moved to approve it and Larry Mahler seconded. The roll call vote was unanimous in favor (ayes: Lownik, Mahler, Murley, Shull, Bruening).

All motions and roll-call results were recorded in the meeting minutes. The council held a brief forum and adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
