Questa board approves FFA trips, part-time employee resolution, donation and budget adjustments

The Questa Independent Schools Board of Education on March 17 approved several routine items including two State FFA overnight trips, a part-time employee resolution for the 2026–2027 school year, a donation for first-aid kits, and budget adjustment requests.
Member Juan Cisneros moved to approve the State FFA overnight trip to Las Cruces April 6–10, 2026; Member Esequiel Romero seconded and the motion passed with all members voting in favor. Member Romero then moved to approve the State FFA Convention trip to Las Cruces May 25–28, 2026; Member Cisneros seconded and the board voted unanimously.
Vice President Michael Cordova moved to approve the Part-Time Employee Resolution for the 2026–2027 school year; Member Cisneros seconded and the motion carried. The board accepted a $1,112 donation from the LOR Foundation to purchase first-aid kits for QISD student families after a motion by Member Esequiel Romero and a second by Secretary Valerie Vigil; that motion also passed unanimously.
On finance items, Member Cordova moved to approve Budget Adjustment Requests (BARs) 0031-I and 0032-I; Secretary Vigil seconded and all members voted in favor. The board did not have any pre-approval requisitions over $5,000 to record at this meeting.
The board discussed an attendance policy and agreed to bring the policy back for a second reading at a future meeting; testing data was reviewed as a discussion-only item. The meeting adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
