ISD 622 approves $193,685 change order for North High stadium concession upgrades

The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale (ISD 622) school board on July 20 approved Change Order No. 02 to Rochon Corporation’s contract for North High School stadium improvements in the amount of $193,685.10.
The district’s director told the board the work covers foundation repair for the concession area, code-related roofing and fireproofing upgrades, coiling door replacement, electrical provisions, interior finish repairs and the installation of an exterior drinking fountain. “A cost of $193,685.10 was submitted by Rochon Corporation for the work, and the architects of record deemed the pricing to be fair and reasonable,” the director said.
The director said the change order reflects a combination of issues: some conditions (foundation problems) were not visible until older bleachers were removed, and additional code-required work was identified during review by the code marshal. The director recommended approval and noted the project contingency will cover the expense.
Board members asked whether the work was unforeseen or omitted from the original bid package; the director reiterated it was a mix of unforeseen conditions and code-required items. The board voted on the motion to approve the change order; the chair directed the clerk to call the roll and the board recorded no nays, approving the item.
The action amends the contractor’s total contract value for the North High stadium improvements per the motion recorded on the agenda. The board moved on to the next agenda item after approving the change order.
