Union City Borough council voted July 23 to accept a $5,000 quote from Mansfield to repair, replace and reconnect pipe at a sinkhole in Municipal Lot #1.
Borough records show McLallen Construction submitted a higher quote of $6,800. The borough stated it will supply the pipe and fittings, listed in the minutes at a cost of $5,000. Councilor Kerns moved to accept Mansfield's bid and Councilor Steadman seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips reported crews had placed approximately 400 gallons of dye into a storm drain near Hogan's Alley and that dye is entering sanitary lines to Municipal Lot #1; staff plan to run cameras in the affected lines and to inspect toward the Salvation Army to determine the extent of underground issues.
