During the workshop the commissioners considered a set of budgetary items and project recommendations from county staff:
Clerk read Item 5, describing a set of additional appropriations and transfers that included $163,000 for 911 telephone invoices (to fund code 070), a grant allocation linked to a jail roof, and equipment purchases including corner work equipment for roughly $29,970. The clerk also summarized transfers among departmental accounts including moving wages into an Eastern Court account and small appropriations for law library water costs and grant adjustments.
Planning and community development items included awarding an asphalt paving contract for Godly Road improvements through the CDBG program and selecting a planning consultant from the prequalified list for a neighborhood planning activity in the Bullendale area. County engineer Gary Schafer described the Donnelly Road work as a full‑base repair between Girdle and State Route 534 to address heavy truck traffic.
On Item 18 the board discussed a contract modification to MS Consultants for construction administration and inspection on the Crane Drive project; commissioners elected to defer final action until after a public hearing scheduled the following evening so the consultant can attend. The board also reviewed Item 15, a request to purchase four lease interceptors from another sheriff’s fleet at a total listed cost of approximately $7,500 for all four vehicles and discussed fleet rotation plans.
Commissioners asked staff to ensure appropriation language and timing (for example, transfers that become effective after Aug. 1) are accurate before formal approval and agreed to return some items after hearings or further documentation.
