Bigfork board approves election resolutions after district reclassification

The Bigfork School District Board approved separate election resolutions for the elementary and high school districts at its Nov. 12 meeting after Business Manager Lacey Porrovecchio outlined administrative implications of the district’s reclassification to Class 1.
Porrovecchio told trustees that because of the reclassification the district must add two elementary trustee positions and that all trustee candidates must file with the Montana Secretary of State; if an election is necessary it will be administered jointly by Flathead and Lake counties. Trustee Julie Kreiman moved to approve the elementary election resolution; Trustee Paul Sandry seconded and the elementary trustees approved the resolution by unanimous vote.
Porrovecchio then reviewed the high school election resolution. Trustee Mac Kirk moved to approve the high school resolution; Trustee Dan Elwell seconded and the motion passed by unanimous vote of the elementary and high school trustees.
The motions set the administrative framework for candidate filing and county-run elections if required; the resolutions themselves do not describe specific ballot language or dates beyond what is required for filing and county administration.
