The Bigfork School District Board of Trustees voted at its Nov. 12 meeting to conditionally participate in the Bridged Health Alliance, the state health insurance trust, beginning in July 2026.
Superintendent Tom Stack explained that Bridged Health Alliance requires sufficient district enrollment—roughly 150 districts and about 12,000 employees—to stand up the trust. Trustees reviewed the history of the Northwest Montana Health Insurance Consortium and the district’s options for employee coverage. Trustee Julie Kreiman moved to conditionally participate in Bridged Health Alliance; Trustee Dan Elwell seconded the motion, which passed by unanimous vote of the elementary and high school trustees.
The board’s vote is a conditional commitment pending the trust meeting the participation thresholds and any necessary administrative steps. No premium amounts, employee contribution details or other financial specifics were provided at the meeting; the administration will follow up with staff and report updates to the board as the July 2026 enrollment decision approaches.
The action does not finalize contract terms; it directs administration to proceed with conditional participation assuming the trust forms with required district and employee counts.
