Commission revises website RFP and schedules special meeting to review 9-1-1 managed services bids

Greenbrier County commissioners moved on Sept. 9 to amend the county's website development request for proposals and to schedule a near-term special meeting to consider managed service provider bids for 9-1-1.
Commission staff reported only one bid had been received but several companies had asked for more time to deliver a complete website. Commissioner (speaker 5) moved that the county revise the RFP to ask bidders for an estimated completion date instead of a fixed deadline, set a new due date of Oct. 10 at 4 p.m., and return the existing bid unopened to the bidder. "I'm gonna make a motion that we do not open the current bid that we have. We are going to revise the RFP ... bids will be due Oct. 10," the commissioner said; the motion passed.
On the managed services contract for 9-1-1 (current contract expires at the end of the month), the commission agreed to hold a special meeting in mid-September to open bids and, if appropriate, award the contract at the regular meeting on Sept. 23 to allow time for transition. Commissioners emphasized the need for lead time and for county counsel to review any bids before award.
Announcements at the end of the meeting confirmed prebid meetings and due dates for courthouse window replacement and drainage bids, and the amended website RFP due date (Oct. 10).
